Overview

This position is for the Facilities Management Service at the Seattle & American Lake campuses VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS). The role involves performing pipe-fitting work in compliance with established practices and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follow pipe-fitting work procedures for recurring and routine work.
  • Complete pipe-fitting work in compliance with instructions and established practices.
  • Receive, store, identify, issue, and maintain records of tools and materials.
  • Inventory tools at prescribed intervals and check bin cards for accurate stock levels.
  • Pick up materials from the warehouse for specific jobs and label them to job orders.
  • Perform pipe assembly using various tools and equipment.
  • Erect protective enclosures and clean rooms to protect patients and staff.
  • Install, replace, or repair various pipes, flanges, joints, shut-off valves, and unions.
  • Eliminate water hammer in steam lines by changing pitch of branches to risers.
  • Cover pipes with insulating material and measure threading lengths of pipe.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm
  • Physical Requirements: Employee often works from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms.
  • May be required to lift and carry heavy items, with a two-person lift limit of 100 pounds.
