Job Description

Overview

The Machining/Welding Supervisor is responsible for coordinating shop floor activities within the machine shop and welding teams to ensure products are produced safely, cost-effectively, and on-time while meeting quality standards. This position involves direct supervision of hourly team members focused on the timely delivery of finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a safety-first culture and champion safety and housekeeping improvement activities.
  • Ensure timely reporting and investigation of near misses and incidents.
  • Directly manage the activities of CNC machinists and welders.
  • Assist Engineering with scope of work and provide details on inventory parts used.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality procedures.
  • Manage and schedule department team members for on-time delivery and efficient resource use.
  • Approve scheduled overtime for hourly team members.
  • Review all new jobs with the engineering team and departmental members.
  • Manage resources for emergency and non-standard jobs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping of direct and indirect time.
  • Provide information for critical plant KPIs.
  • Monitor consumption of supplies to meet budget forecasts.
  • Oversee the care and condition of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Assess, train, and coach team members to improve overall performance.
  • Enforce compliance with safety, work rules, company policies, and standards.
  • Communicate discrepancies to management personnel.
  • Review and evaluate the performance of hourly team members.
