Overview

The Welder position on the 2nd shift involves being part of a high-performing welding team responsible for welding high volume production and prototype metal stampings while ensuring high quality welds that meet print specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all welds meet the high expectations of the customer.
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the proper location.
  • Utilize standard inspection tools to verify parts meet print specifications.
  • Perform first piece inspections and all subsequent inspections as required by standard.
  • Weld a variety of raw materials using the proper weld settings to minimize distortion, overheating, and expansion.
  • Utilize weld fixtures to properly clamp, tack, or hold the pieces as required.
  • Maintain and set up necessary welding tools.
  • Examine sub-component parts and finished assemblies to blueprints using standard quality tools.
  • Operate other equipment as necessary and directed by the manufacturing supervisor.
  • May operate a fork lift periodically, as needed, following training.
  • Perform MIG welding.
  • Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
  • Cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements.
  • Work safely as a condition of employment.
  • Perform additional related assignments and work overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Welding certifications preferred.
  • Basic computer and ERP system experience/competence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees and customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Organized and able to meet production deadlines while performing multiple activities.
