Overview

The Millwright position at West Fraser involves a range of technical duties focused on the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment, requiring expertise in diagnostics and mechanical systems. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, and lubricating equipment.
  • Dismantle, replace, repair, install, and assemble equipment and components.
  • Adjust mechanisms such as feed, speed, and power input/output.
  • Operate mechanical and electronic test equipment.
  • Read and understand technical drawings and printed instructions.
  • Move machinery using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Align machines using various tools and instruments.
  • Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Replace defective parts and adjust clearances and alignments.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technical changes and equipment designs.
  • Work rotating shifts, including holidays and overtime as required.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of experience in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of pumps, sheaves, sprockets, and machine centers.
  • Experience with fabrication, cutting with a torch, and welding with an arc welder.
