Overview

Wonderful Citrus is North America’s leading integrated grower, shipper and packer of fresh citrus. The Welder position involves reading blueprints, determining welding methods, and operating welding equipment to assemble mechanical structures with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, drawings and take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
  • Align components using calipers, rulers, etc. and clamp pieces.
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Identify problems and isolate faulty components.
  • Set-up and operate MIG/TIG welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a welder.
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.).
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to use prescribed manual processes in GMAW (MIG) or TIG welding of stainless steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
  • Deftness and attention to detail.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Technical degree preferred.
  • Five years or more related experience and/or training in a production environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, maintenance manuals, and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to comprehend basic oral and written communication.
  • NCCER Certified.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
