Nucor is North America's largest steel and steel products manufacturer, known for its innovative sustainability practices and vibrant culture that empowers team members. The Maintenance I-2nd Shift position involves ensuring safety and performing maintenance tasks in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily inspections on equipment and report defects.
  • Remove metals and debris from conveyor belts.
  • Conduct general labor duties including sweeping and cleanup.
  • Cross-train in other positions and assist coworkers as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Change liners, grates, and hammers on the shredder.
  • Complete other job duties as assigned by the Facility Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to work 2nd shift, Monday to Friday 6PM - 6AM.
  • Experience using front-end loader, excavator, forklift, skid steer, or scrap handler.
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work at heights above one-story.
  • Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles.
  • Stable work history and flexibility for off hours and weekends.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work closely in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English.
