Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled CNC Technician and Machinist to bridge the gap between design and physical hardware. This role involves programming toolpaths, setting up mills and lathes, welding structural frames, and advising the engineering team on design for manufacturability in a small startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain CNC mills, CNC lathes, and manual machining equipment to produce precision components from aluminum and steel.
  • Generate G-code and program automated machines using industry-standard CAM software.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to interpret technical drawings and provide feedback on optimizing designs for manufacturing.
  • Perform welding (TIG/MIG) and general metal fabrication for assembly fixtures and prototype components.
  • Verify part dimensions and tolerances using metrology equipment to ensure parts meet engineering specifications.
  • Manage tooling inventory, order raw materials, and maintain equipment in the machine shop.

Requirements

  • Proven experience setting up and operating both CNC mills and CNC lathes.
  • Strong proficiency in generating G-code and using CAM software to program automated machines.
  • Demonstrated experience machining aluminum and steel to tight tolerances.
  • Hands-on experience with welding equipment (TIG/MIG) and general metal fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with mechanical design engineers.
  • Adaptable mindset willing to tackle a variety of projects in a small startup environment.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
