Job Description

Overview

Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled Sr. AIT Technician to support the Space Resources Program, focusing on In-Situ Resource Utilization technologies for space exploration. This hands-on role involves working directly in the lab to support satellite and subsystem integration, testing, and hardware assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Run thermal vacuum tests and maintain operations through qualification testing.
  • Modify or generate work instructions and follow aerospace testing best practices.
  • Mechanically integrate flight hardware, including fluid and propulsion systems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to develop, assemble, and test aerospace components.
  • Perform development and production activities on space systems with minimal oversight.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of electronic and mechanical fabrication methods.
  • Maintain familiarity with flight hardware deployment procedures.
  • Manufacture and integrate space-standard harnesses.
  • Perform tests on development and prototype hardware with minimal direction.
  • Conduct system fault testing, including continuity checks and functional checkouts.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Coordinate with the area supervisor on weekly testing goals.
  • Generate and review job hazard assessments and establish safety controls.
  • Model and enforce proper care of the lab space and equipment.
  • Coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Identify and remove blockers impacting testing goals.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in aerospace, aviation, military, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with thermal vacuum chambers.
  • Experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Experience working on flight hardware, satellites, or high-reliability systems.
  • Ability to execute work orders and enforce safety standards with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable operating with reduced process rigor typical of rapid-development missions.
  • Hands-on, flexible, organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
  • Experience scheduling work and coordinating priorities using Jira or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and inventory planning.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Able to lift 30 lbs and perform physical tasks required for the position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
