Overview

Alta Equipment Group is one of the largest equipment dealers in North America, seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician with diesel, agricultural, or heavy equipment repair experience to join their team in Orland Park, IL. This union position offers competitive wages and various benefits to support technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Complete inspections
  • Implement optional accessories
  • Perform general repairs
  • Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance

Requirements

  • Four years of previous heavy equipment or over the road (OTR) repair experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous power systems repair experience
  • Volvo Penta engine experience is highly preferred
  • Previous mechanic repair experience including military experience with specific MOS or NEC codes
  • Strong working knowledge of power train and generation systems
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work after hours as needed
  • Must have clean driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Possess own tools
  • Positive attitude and high energy
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and Volvo VCADS
  • Intermediate language skills for reading, writing, and speaking
  • Basic mathematical skills for performing operations with numbers
  • Intermediate reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding

  • The expected hourly pay ranges between $27.21 - $45.35/hr
