Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Ferrara involves conducting repairs and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure continuous operation. This role requires flexibility in working hours and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment using test equipment and meters.
  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts guides, flap tuckers, sealing jaws, sensors, servos, and timing for process systems of packaging equipment.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.
  • Installs change parts on production machinery to accommodate different sizes or products.
  • Reads blueprints, diagrams, and machinery manuals to diagnose problems and learn proper equipment operation.
  • Installs new equipment.
  • Actively seeks to find and correct problems in the assignment area with high supervision.
  • Communicates conditions of equipment by completing maintenance records and informing supervisors of significant problems.
  • Works closely with Production personnel.
  • Improves work-related skills by pursuing outside schooling or plant-provided programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Promotes teamwork and exhibits flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Completed Maintenance Certification.
  • Ability to problem solve by adjusting variables in standardized situations.
