Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, ensuring designs meet customer requirements and quality standards. This role involves leading activities related to fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of customized products and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and document large customized lead-lined enclosures, instrumentation systems, and electromechanical assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Develop production-ready 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting engineering documentation.
• Evaluate customer requirements, specifications, drawings, and technical data to develop innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement through design optimization, material selection, and process enhancements.
• Support product development, manufacturing, and installation activities by coordinating with engineering, operations, suppliers, and quality teams.
• Provide troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and engineering change management (ECR/ECN) support.
• Lead or support testing, validation, tooling and fixture design, work instruction development, and field evaluations.
• Promote operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure a safe, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible workplace while maintaining adherence to quality, safety, and company standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of related engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience creating detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering documentation.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, engineering change management, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IPC-A-610, J-STD standards, ESD controls, and FDA-regulated environments is preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear work instructions and technical reports.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing, inventory, project management, spreadsheet, and word-processing software.
• Proficient with standard electronic and mechanical test equipment, including calipers, multimeters, and power supplies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel as required and support extended work schedules when business needs dictate.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods.
