Overview

The City of Dallas is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to perform skilled maintenance tasks on various industrial equipment, vehicles, and heavy automotive equipment. This role offers competitive benefits, growth opportunities, and a commitment to service and community.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and determines equipment failures and ensures appropriate repairs are completed.
  • Inspects and tests completed work to ensure repairs meet standards.
  • Researches and orders parts for repairs and maintains records of purchases and installations.
  • Demonstrates proper work methods and safety procedures to other mechanics.
  • Inspects and executes repair, replacement, fabrication, modification, and installation of plant equipment.
  • Performs major and minor repairs on various machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Changes belts, oil, filters, greases bearings, and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Serves as lead worker over lower level mechanics.
  • Performs any other work as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of experience performing preventative maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required for Distribution.
  • Vocational degree or certified technical training may substitute for up to two years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical systems and principles of maintenance and repair.
  • Skill in the use of appropriate hand tools and repair techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and diagrams.
  • Ability to analyze and diagnose problems.
  • Ability to operate computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Additional Information

  • Subject to 24/7 call-out and stand-by rotation.
  • Subject to working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, climb, and be available at various shifts.
  • Must be able to perform work outdoors in inclement weather and industrial environments.
