Overview

The Offsite Maintenance and Modernization (M&M) Office is hiring a Manufacturing Technician – Steel Processing in Philadelphia, PA, responsible for supporting Steel Processing of new construction VCS and CLB material. This multi-disciplined role requires attention to detail and collaboration with various teams to ensure material quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Operations Supervisors with steel processing material reviews and work order closeouts.
  • Qualify as an NDT VT Inspector in accordance with MDD-00948/MDD-01464.
  • Comprehend and follow or issue verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors.
  • Administer and execute the craft’s work paper (e.g., Work orders, EWP, ERS, ACCP, etc.).
  • Collaborate with site leadership to ensure readiness for inspections and audits.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and marine manufacturing industry.
  • Business and EWA travel to other shipyards/strategic partner locations is required.
  • Required to work other than normal duty hours, including shift work, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • 1+ year of industrial marine environment experience is preferred.
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs are preferred.
  • Relevant formal training or education is preferred.
  • Military service is preferred.
  • Welding and Fitting experience in maritime environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with blueprints and drawing interpretation is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Project, VISIO) is preferred.
