Overview

Veeco is a technology company that designs, develops, manufactures, and services complex machines for semiconductor manufacturing. The Manufacturing Technician role in the Precision Surface Processing (PSP) business involves advanced assembly and troubleshooting of capital equipment used in chip fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and integrate complete semiconductor process tools including frames, precision mechanical systems, wiring harnesses, and fluid delivery lines.
• Interpret and execute from mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and fluid system diagrams.
• Troubleshoot complex assembly issues in real time, collaborating with engineering to resolve problems.
• Lead subassembly efforts or coordinate entire tool builds, assigning tasks and maintaining schedules.
• Support and occasionally lead the tool power-up process for operational readiness.
• Document builds thoroughly for traceability and adherence to quality standards.
• Model and enforce safety compliance, including lockout/tagout and plant protocols.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade education strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience building or assembling electro-mechanical systems.
• Availability to work 1st shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM) with overtime flexibility.
• Proficiency with Swagelok and flare fittings, stainless steel tubing, and high-purity plumbing assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret complex schematics across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing domains.
• Experience with small gauge wire termination, crimping, and cable routing preferred.
• Familiarity with CAD/software tools like SolidWorks and Excel; comfortable using ERP systems.
• Leadership aptitude to guide less experienced technicians.
• High attention to detail and ability to produce reliable, high-quality builds under limited supervision.
• Physically able to stand, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs.
