Overview

At Wellstar, the Maintenance Mechanic position involves maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, contributing to the health and well-being of the community. The role emphasizes compassion, excellence, and valuing every voice in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to telephoned service requests and project work orders daily.
  • Identifies work complexity, necessary tools, and spare parts for repairs.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions for spare parts and materials.
  • Completes repairs in a timely manner and documents them in the CMMS system.
  • Maintains critical spare parts inventory through periodic checks.
  • Rekeys locks and repairs automatic and manual doors.
  • Assesses and completes preventative maintenance work requests.
  • Reports deficiencies noted during preventative maintenance.
  • Conducts monthly tours of assigned work zone for required repairs.
  • Inspects fire and smoke walls for compliance with Code.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in general mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Basic knowledge in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and related systems.
  • Good mechanical repair skills and light electrical skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repair of pumps, motors, and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge in light carpentry and sheetrock work.
  • Ability to use power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic understanding of NFPA and Life Safety Codes.
