Overview

The Field Service Technician will support fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This role requires excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills due to significant customer interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet.
  • Perform specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and upgrades.
  • Provide on-call and emergency support service to customers as required.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage and fueling systems.
  • Maintain communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers.
  • Provide feedback to regional service representatives regarding fuel cell performance.
  • Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports and service logs.
  • Exhibit and enforce safety procedures in the field.
  • Travel as required for business needs and adhere to traffic laws.
  • Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
  • Three or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
  • Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
  • General mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creativity in solving technical problems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Uncompromising dedication to quality.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Technician must provide own standard set of tools.
