Overview

Starr, a global leader in commercial insurance, is seeking qualified applicants for the Associate Machinery Specialist positions within their Boiler and Machinery Division. This full-time role is aimed at candidates with an engineering degree or a high school diploma with relevant experience in boiler servicing.

Responsibilities

  • Learn basic boiler and pressure vessel operations and mechanical principles.
  • Learn ASME, NBIC, and jurisdictional regulations through guided instruction and self-study.
  • Act as an apprentice to conduct jurisdictional inspections of regulated boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Perform 300 boiler and pressure vessel inspections under instruction.
  • Complete knowledge checks and perform practical applications in conducting boiler and pressure vessel in-service inspections.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Pass the National Board exam to obtain an 'IS' designation within 12 months of employment.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or high school diploma with 3 years' experience in boiler servicing and/or operation of high-pressure boilers.
  • Clean driving record with a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Motivated self-starter with good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Capable of performing internal boiler inspections and passing a fit-for-duty evaluation.

Additional Information

  • Travel and overnight stays are required.
