Overview

Wagstaff's Applied Technologies division focuses on engineering and fabrication of stainless steel gloveboxes for the nuclear industry. The team is expanding and looking for skilled fabricators to join their ranks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel and other metals.
  • Execute TIP TIG and Laser Welding with oversight.
  • Receive and interpret instructions, prints, and work orders.
  • Adhere to technical documentation and mentor team members.
  • Fabricate by cutting, burning, straightening, and welding various metals.
  • Read and execute work according to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Maintain traceability of materials through record keeping tasks.
  • Use calibrated precision measuring instruments to meet fabrication tolerances.
  • Identify and recommend product/process improvements.
  • Document work processes and progress.
  • Utilize basic MRP system knowledge for daily tasks.
  • Complete quality verifications and weld records as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency with TIG Welding (GTAW).
  • Experience with Stainless Steel and/or Aluminum preferred.
  • Minimum of five years welding experience required.
  • Two years experience may be substituted with an Associate of Arts degree in Welding Technology.
  • One year experience may be substituted with an accredited trade or vocational welding certificate.
  • Must meet minimum requirements for test position and joint type.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings for proper applications.

  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 10 hours, 3:10 pm - 1:40 am.
  • Work may require weeks in excess of 40 hours.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
