Overview

The Fleet Mechanic (Part-Time) plays a crucial role in the safe operation of the transit system, ensuring the safety of passengers who rely on transit for their daily commutes.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a 'safety first' attitude.
  • Perform heavy equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Utilize computer skills to repair sub-components of buses.
  • Understand and follow schematics.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and establish trust.
  • Work cohesively in a team environment to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and replace various vehicle systems.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Test drive and operate vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
  • Assist in training lower-level personnel.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one to two years of vocational/technical schooling or equivalent work experience.
  • One year of progressive heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Two years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with diagnostic computer equipment and software required.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to learn the design, maintenance, and adjustments of various vehicle systems.

Additional Information

  • Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment.
  • Pay is $25 per hour.
