Overview

Upchurch is a rapidly growing, full-service building engineering company providing mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical services across the southeastern United States. They are seeking a motivated Sheet Metal Apprentice to assist with the installation, assembly, and fabrication of sheet metal and HVAC duct systems while learning the trade under experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and assembly of commercial HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and other equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow project plans, specifications, and instructions provided by supervisors.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all Upchurch and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Participate in trade-related training and apprenticeship programs.
  • Support crew members with material handling, layout, and installation activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of sheet metal, HVAC, or commercial construction experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior construction or sheet metal experience is a plus but not required.
  • Trade school or craft training preferred.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and work in a commercial construction environment.
