Overview

The Crater Packer A position involves fabricating shipping containers and packing various materials for military and commercial specifications. The role requires operating power tools and cranes, as well as following blueprints and specifications to ensure safe and secure shipment of items domestically and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates shipping containers and crates to specifications.
  • Operates various saws, drill presses, and other power tools.
  • Uses cranes and electric forklifts to load and secure items for shipment.
  • Designs and builds shipping fixtures and reusable containers.
  • Packs materials in containers using knowledge of crating practices.
  • Applies corrosion preventive compounds as needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of validated woodwork experience.
  • Ability to use various hand tools and power tools.
  • Knowledge of box building and crating practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Knowledge of structural design and integrity.
  • Ability to fabricate shipping cradles made of steel.
