Overview

Cummings Electrical is expanding its Integrated Manufacturing team, focusing on designing and building custom, integrated modular systems for various projects. The Experienced Panel Technician will play a key role in building industrial control panels and ensuring high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Mechanically assemble industrial control panels, including drilling, tapping, cutouts, hardware installation, backplate preparation, and component mounting.
  • Install and label PLCs, VFDs, terminal blocks, relays, breakers, power supplies, and other control and automation components.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring for power and control circuits in accordance with drawings, company wiring standards, and applicable UL 508A methods.
  • Maintain neat, organized, professional panel layouts and wire routing; label wires, terminals, devices, and panels to company standards.
  • Perform pre-QC checks, including basic continuity verification, wiring review, and torque verification where required; correct issues identified during QC or testing.
  • Work from assigned priorities and build schedules; communicate promptly when parts are missing, drawings are unclear, or build issues could affect schedule or quality.
  • Assist with panel testing and troubleshooting, shipping preparation, material staging, and safe movement of panels, enclosures, and components.
  • Maintain organized work areas, return tools after use, help manage consumables and hardware, and report damaged tools or equipment.
  • Support team capability by sharing knowledge and helping train less-experienced panel technicians when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Ability to independently read, interpret, and build from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring drawings.
  • Working knowledge of panel assembly tools and testing methods used to produce quality builds.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, operating instructions, quality manuals, procedure manuals, schedules, and verbal direction.
  • Ability to manage assigned work within stated priorities, available manpower, and scheduled build times.
  • Basic shop math skills, including the ability to convert decimal and fractional measurements.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • 2+ years of industrial control panel assembly experience (preferred).
  • UL 508A knowledge or practical experience (preferred).
  • Experience assembling VFD, PLC, and industrial automation panels (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring or training entry-level panel technicians (preferred).
