Overview

The Underground Equipment Operator is an entry-level position focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems, requiring travel based on customer demands.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely on energized and de-energized underground systems.
  • Assist with installing underground transformers.
  • Replace fuses in transformers and clear faulted circuits.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Understand the proper use of company radio and heavy equipment.
  • Identify primary and secondary voltage on circuits.
  • Assist with the installation and hookup of single-phase transformers.
  • Check voltage on transformers and inspect rubber goods and PPE.
  • Work outside in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience required.
  • Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days.
  • A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
  • Able to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Directional drilling experience is preferred.
  • Willing to work overtime and outside of normal work schedule.
