Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design project teams to create world-class designs for various projects, including power, healthcare, and military facilities. This role involves managing the design and construction process while adapting plans to meet budget constraints and client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
  • Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in the development of project schedules, scope, budget, and construction planning.
  • Manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply expert knowledge of mechanical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Find non-standard design solutions for complex projects.
  • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues.
  • Lead field inspections and measurements for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and develop new business opportunities.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
  • Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements.
  • Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
  • Ensure QA/QC process adherence.
  • Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Comply with company and site safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years mechanical engineering experience.
  • EPC project experience preferred.
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering and 6 years mechanical engineering experience is also acceptable.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading discipline design for large projects.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work analytically.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
