Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer position at Vero Biotech involves leading the mechanical engineering activities for the development of medical devices. The role includes designing and developing next-generation medical devices while ensuring compliance with FDA guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of electromechanical medical devices.
• Drive late-stage product development including prototype refinement and system integration.
• Create and maintain SolidWorks models, assemblies, drawings, and specifications.
• Design and evaluate various components including molded and machined parts.
• Build, integrate, test, modify, and troubleshoot prototypes and systems.
• Integrate and evaluate hardware components such as pumps and sensors.
• Develop and execute various types of testing including mechanical and reliability testing.
• Perform root cause investigations and implement design improvements.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
• Support tooling, pilot builds, and manufacturing issue resolution.
• Lead or support design reviews, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software and quality assurance.
• Use basic Python and Excel for engineering analysis and data evaluation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline required; master’s degree preferred.
• 7 or more years of relevant mechanical design and development experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with electromechanical products.
• Strong knowledge of molded thermoplastics and various manufacturing components.
• Proficiency with CAD software required; SolidWorks strongly preferred.
• Experience with fluidic systems and components preferred.
• Experience integrating embedded hardware and sensors.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with mechanical, fluidic, thermal, or reliability testing.
• Familiarity with medical device Design Controls and Quality Management Systems.
• Basic Python scripting experience preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work hands-on and independently in a fast-paced environment.
