Overview

Red Dot Buildings is seeking an experienced Welder who is skilled in producing strong, clean, and accurate welds in a structural steel fabrication environment. The role involves following established welding procedures and maintaining high quality standards to ensure that components meet the company's specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Weld clips, connection plates, and other components onto structural steel members.
  • Perform welds in accordance with applicable specifications, including AWS D1.1 and D1.3.
  • Follow weld maps and Welding Procedure Specifications to ensure correct weld size, type, location, and sequence.
  • Inspect component fit-up before welding and identify alignment or preparation concerns.
  • Set up and calibrate welding equipment for the assigned work.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with established standards.
  • Clean beams and remove weld spatter after welding to prepare components for the paint shop.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.
  • Use proper rigging practices when positioning and moving materials.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of work procedures and quality requirements for the assigned area.
  • Identify and communicate concerns involving materials, fit-up, weld maps, or equipment.
  • Maintain an organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Follow all required safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete special assignments and other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment.
  • The ability to produce accurate, consistent, and high-quality welds.
  • Experience reading weld maps, fabrication drawings, or work instructions.
  • Familiarity with weld symbols and Welding Procedure Specifications.
  • Knowledge of proper joint preparation and fit-up requirements.
  • Experience setting up and adjusting welding equipment.
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1 or D1.3 welding standards is preferred.
  • Overhead-crane and material-rigging experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • The ability to identify weld-quality or fit-up concerns before they become larger problems.
  • A safety-first mindset and dependable attendance.
  • A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and develop additional welding skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a team.
