Overview

The Field Tank Welder position involves performing welding tasks safely and efficiently, with a focus on field erected storage structures. Candidates must have relevant experience and certifications, and be prepared for extensive travel and varying work conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties safely.
  • Weld with 7018 and downhill using 6010.
  • Manually move 100 feet of weld lead (70-100 lbs.).
  • Arc gouge as required.
  • Climb to heights of 160 feet above ground using vertical ladders.
  • Assist in moving steel plates: unloading, loading, hanging, aligning, and fitting.
  • Drive stakes and fit up vertically, round, roof, and bottom seams.
  • Perform bottom breakdowns.
  • Grind weld seams in preparation for x-ray and chip off weld burs.

Requirements

  • Must pass a weld test per AWS or ASME.
  • Must pass either a bend test or x-ray welding with 7018 in vertical position.
  • Experience in the construction of field erected storage structures.
  • Familiarity with tools such as 4- and 8-pound hammers, fit up bars, grinders, and chipping hammers.
  • Ability to pass a post hire physical and a substance abuse test.
