Overview

NRG is focused on creating a smarter, cleaner, and more connected future through innovative solutions in energy and home services. The Structural Engineer will oversee technical activities related to the evaluation and repair of structural components within power generating facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the strength, stability, and rigidity of structures using engineering principles and methods.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software for structural analysis and modeling.
  • Investigate and diagnose structural issues and failures, providing recommendations for repairs.
  • Perform risk assessments and propose solutions to mitigate potential structural failures.
  • Review lifting and rigging plan designs.
  • Provide geotechnical determinations and reviews.
  • Support safe access reviews and stabilization efforts of damaged structures.
  • Support critical infrastructure inspection programs.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for repair/construction projects.
  • Oversee, conduct, and document feasibility reviews of proposed projects.
  • Collaborate with plant engineers, contractors, and specialists to ensure designs meet project requirements.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with site personnel.
  • Work effectively in a team environment as a leader, member, or facilitator.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering, plant personnel, and external firms on complex projects.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, safety regulations, and applicable rules.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of prior professional experience.
  • Experience with advanced structural analysis software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Information

  • This position is a combination of remote work, in office, and industrial settings.
  • This position can require up to 30% domestic travel.
