Overview

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a talented and self-motivated Structural Engineer III to join their Engineering Team in Downers Grove, IL. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging design projects for various industrial and power clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Structural Engineering duties in the design, analysis, and preparation of calculations, drawings, and specifications for concrete and steel projects.
  • Prepare structural designs and modifications of industrial structures and systems for assigned projects.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and construction throughout all phases of planning, design, and construction.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed design sketches, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines to develop plans, elevations, and basis of design documents.
  • Apply basic structural engineering technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts in engineering design packages.
  • Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.
  • Understand and apply applicable building codes and industry-specific standards for engineering projects.
  • Specify building materials such as concrete and steel for projects, and review supplier submittals and test reports.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement standards or operating procedures.
  • Provide Material Take Offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and engineering to determine a project’s economic feasibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 10 years of structural steel and concrete engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification and working towards Professional Engineer licensure.
  • Proficient with Engineering and Computer Software (MS Office, AutoCAD, 2D &/or 3D CAD, BlueBeam, RISA, NavisWorks, STAAD, SPMats, Enercalc).
  • Experience with large power generation and industrial projects.
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the USA for any employer without the need for sponsorship.
