Overview

The Mechanical Engineer III will take design ownership of components and sub-systems to drive lower costs, increased reliability, and enhanced application. This role involves collaboration with various departments to select advanced technologies and products, utilizing tools like CAD and FEA, and may require occasional travel and extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Take design responsibility for assigned components and sub-systems.
  • Support alternate design exploration for cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Provide clear direction to cross-functional teams to meet program targets.
  • Engage departments to resolve resource conflicts and implement risk mitigations.
  • Manage scope definition and change control, including estimating program scope variations.
  • Report status of assigned programs at various organizational levels.
  • Create Design Requirements Documents based on Market Requirements Documents.
  • Create plans for component and system tests and interpret results.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis efforts on components and sub-systems.
  • Read and process engineering documents, including manufacturing drawings.
  • Create design concepts using SolidWorks and analyze them for suitability.
  • Work with Mechanical Designers to create detailed CAD models and drawings.
  • Develop timelines and cost estimates for development tasks.
  • Generate design history and design record documents in compliance with company requirements.
  • Work with the Quality department to develop inspection and test plans.
  • Assess reliability, safety, performance, and risk of designs and methodologies.
  • Oversee testing and theoretical analysis of products for safety and efficacy.
  • Drive designs from concept through to production and field support.
  • Travel to project sites, suppliers, labs, etc., as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
