Overview

Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Inc. (EMMI) is a well-established and diverse water and wastewater utility organization specializing in utility maintenance, operations, engineering and construction services. The company is fast paced and rapidly expanding, headquartered in New Port Richey, Florida with a staff of over 950 employees in twenty states.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various machine tools to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
  • Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results.
  • Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizings.
  • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work.
  • Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
  • Perform various metalizing techniques as needed.
  • Understand materials and applications as required.
  • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders.
  • Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations, broaching procedures, and babbitt bearing work.
  • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools.
  • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects to perform work and observe safety precautions.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.
  • Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
  • Assist other machinists and service center departments with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

  • Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training and operational and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team effort.
  • Physical ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
