Overview

The Welder IV position involves applying advanced welding skills to cut, shape, join, fabricate, or repair metal and other weldable materials, ensuring adherence to production schedules and manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Complete work activities using experience and judgement to meet production schedule requirements.
  • Join surfaces, fabricate, or repair parts using advanced welding skills as specified by part report and weld procedure.
  • Consistently meet or exceed quality, safety, and production requirements for assigned projects.
  • Lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using tools like rules and squares.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards, completing inspection documentation accurately.
  • Model working practices and raise awareness of safety issues in the work area.
  • Demonstrate understanding to perform local stress relief and operate PWHT equipment.
  • Participate in and sustain a high 5s level.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Training at a Trade School or Welding Apprentice Program preferred.
  • Typically has 3+ years welding experience in a similar industry.
  • Must work to obtain and pass all performance qualification testing required by ASME Section IX for a minimum of 3 weld processes.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend written and verbal English.
  • Must comprehend internal documents such as engineering drawings and weld procedures.
  • Performs pipe welding requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains a high 5s standard.
  • Must have ability to measure and understand measuring equipment and basic math.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment including forklifts and cranes within approximately 90 days.
