Overview

Aalo Atomics is pioneering a new era in clean energy with factory-fabricated microreactors designed to deliver affordable, scalable, and reliable nuclear power. The Field Welder is a versatile Field Operations professional responsible for high-quality welding and supporting various field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and other materials using qualified processes and approved procedures.
  • Execute welding, fabrication, repair, fit-up, and installation activities in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Travel to company facilities, project sites, vendor locations, and other work locations as required.
  • Read and interpret fabrication prints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, procedures, and technical work instructions.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and complete assigned work safely and accurately.
  • Inspect completed work for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and conformance with applicable procedures.
  • Assist with equipment installation, assembly, maintenance, testing, material movement, and other field support activities.
  • Operate basic heavy machinery, material-handling equipment, power tools, and field support equipment when trained and qualified.
  • Support the setup, organization, housekeeping, and maintenance of field work areas, tools, and welding equipment.

Requirements

  • Based in the United States.
  • Willing to work on-site in Austin, TX.
  • Qualify, maintain, and expand proficiency in welding processes and materials.
  • Develop and maintain capability in processes such as GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG).
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and accept coaching.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
