Overview

The Millwright Journeyman is responsible for planning, laying out, installing, and aligning equipment and machinery according to specifications and industry standards. This skilled position requires a strong working knowledge of machinery and tools, as well as the ability to work in various conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, diagram, and lay out for millwright's work.
  • Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, and align machinery.
  • Review and verify inventory of equipment/machine components.
  • Check accuracy of line and grade of existing foundation.
  • Prepare foundation for grouting and/or machinery placement.
  • Establish and use centerlines and benchmarks.
  • Establish proper elevation of subsole and sole plates.
  • Set and align machine components.
  • Mix and place all types of grout.
  • Properly torque equipment and machinery.
  • Rig equipment and machinery and direct crane operators.
  • Test all installed machinery and equipment and make necessary adjustments.
  • Dismantle machines using various hand tools.
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists and dollies.
  • Assemble and install equipment according to project specifications.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Effective communication with management and supervision.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

  • Able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft).
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
