Overview

UTHealth Houston is Texas’ resource for healthcare education, innovation, scientific discovery, and excellence in patient care. The Mechanic performs advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of chilled water, steam, compressed air, and vacuum systems, overseeing work on pumps, motors, compressors, valves, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs hands-on and supervisory maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repairs to chilled water, heating water, compressed air, vacuum, and steam systems.
  • Develops project scope, determines proper tools, and estimates cost of materials and repairs.
  • Reviews plans, schematics, specifications, and other related documentation.
  • Receives, generates, and completes work orders for scheduled and unscheduled work.
  • Responds to critical situations, including emergencies such as power outages and equipment failures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree or trade school diploma in related field preferred.
  • 7 years of mechanical service or related experience required.
  • Extensive experience servicing a broad range of mechanical systems required.
  • Experience repairing various types of pumps and fans required.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
