Overview

NDT Global is a leading provider of inline diagnostic solutions and integrity management services for the energy sector. The Shop Technician role involves learning practical techniques for preparing and refurbishing pipeline inspection tools to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist in the preparation and verification of inspection tools.
  • Test inspection tools for proper setup and functionality.
  • Perform maintenance on inspection tools as part of normal upkeep.
  • Refurbish inspection tools to a defined state.
  • Interpret technical drawings for tool assembly.
  • Raise assembly and maintenance issues with the supervisor promptly.
  • Complete required procedures and checklists according to NDT procedures.
  • Ensure work is carried out safely and with high quality.
  • Conduct daily risk assessments in line with HSEQ standards.
  • Facilitate information flow between departments for successful project builds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A two-year degree or diploma in Mechatronic, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of shop safety and issued tool safety procedures.
  • Aptitude for learning new technologies and concepts.
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical aptitude.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • Preferred background in In-line Inspection (ILI), Acoustic Resonance Technology (ART), or Ultrasonic (UT).
  • Familiarity with a range of mechanical and/or electrical tools and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of technical drawings and tool configurations.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of NDT specific software (Cassiopeia, LineExplorer, Peanut, etc.).
  • Certification to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Certification in lifting and slinging and/or rigging.
