Overview

CSUN strives to be a destination workplace, fostering an environment of success for both students and employees. The Theatre Stage Technician supports theatre technical operations, contributing to main stage productions and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Support production carpentry-fabrication, load-in, and load-out for theatre productions.
  • Oversee and coordinate labor teams to execute the build schedule.
  • Interpret technical drawings and create fabrication/install plans for scenic elements.
  • Produce welding and metal work.
  • Assist theatre stage technicians during student-run productions.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to one to two years of experience in a theater or related production specialty.
  • Experience with Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, rigging, and Auto CAD preferred.
  • General knowledge of methods and problems related to production specialty areas.
  • Ability to translate design specifications and blueprints into applicable production.
  • Working knowledge of safety requirements related to stage and set construction.
  • Ability to assist in training and supervision of students involved in productions.
  • Ability to identify materials and manage budgets for production projects.
  • Ability to read blueprints and apply carpentry knowledge to set construction.

  • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
