Overview

Ash Grove Cement, part of the CRH family of companies, is one of North America's leading cement manufacturers, seeking a Utility Laborer to perform general clean-up and material handling duties while ensuring compliance with safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general clean-up duties using various tools and equipment.
  • Assist in removing and installing refractory lining in plant equipment.
  • Clean plant and mobile equipment, including unplugging chutes and dust collectors.
  • Clean building roofs and remove snow when necessary.
  • Assist in screening grinding balls and recharging mill grinding ball load.
  • Perform janitorial and ground keeping duties.
  • Fill other positions as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and dump trucks.
  • Continuously observe all safety rules and keep work areas clean.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related manufacturing organization is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels and instructions.
  • Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use various tools and equipment.

Additional Information

  • Work performed in a shop environment and outdoors with exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise.
  • Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet.
  • Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
