Overview

Rhoads Industries, a family-owned company since 1896, is seeking a Welder/Pipefitter Journeyman to join their Industrial Services team. The company specializes in industrial fabrication, mechanical/maintenance, and maritime services, and is committed to delivering exceptional products and services across various markets.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently read and understand P&ID’s and ISO drawings to fabricate and assemble piping systems.
  • Use all power tools involved in the fabrication of piping systems, including grinders, port-a-bands, saw zaws, and threading machines.
  • Work with stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel pipe.
  • Troubleshoot and solve issues with tools and equipment used in pipe fabrication and installation.
  • Plan and participate in pipe fabrication and installation projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Train and mentor less experienced employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or trade school certificate).
  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial pipe fitting/welding.
  • Must pass a 6G GTAW, 6G SMAW test and a layout pipe fitting proficiency test.
  • Proficient in metallurgy, welding safety, and quality control.
  • Must own a vehicle and hold a valid Driver's License.

Additional Information

  • Work schedule includes Monday-Friday, 7AM – 3:30 PM, with overtime and weekend shifts available.
  • Ability to travel daily in and around Philadelphia and the Tristate Area.
  • Must be able to lift/hold 50lbs and work in confined spaces.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for TIG and Stick work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. Stick (SMAW) burns a flux-coated consumable rod and needs no shielding gas, so it works in wind, rain, and on dirty or rusted steel. That tolerance for bad conditions keeps it the default for field, structural, and repair work.
