Overview

Midsouth Steel is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our fabrication team on second shift. The role involves overseeing the quality of work performed by welding and fabrication teams to ensure finished products meet quality standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect structural steel and miscellaneous steel fabrication throughout the production process.
  • Monitor welding and fabrication activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated components to identify defects or workmanship issues.
  • Verify dimensions, fit-up, orientation, and other fabrication requirements using appropriate inspection tools.
  • Read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Work closely with welders, fabricators, foremen, and production management to resolve quality issues.
  • Document inspection results, nonconformances, and other quality-related information accurately.
  • Maintain quality control records and assist with documentation control.
  • Verify that required inspections and quality checkpoints are completed throughout the fabrication process.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and communicate them to the Quality Manager and production personnel.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with project specifications and quality procedures.
  • Support final inspections of completed fabricated components prior to delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while performing inspections.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
