Overview

The TIG Welder II / Welder III position involves performing high-quality welding tasks, including full penetration butt welds and working with various materials and welding techniques. Crane ChemPharma & Energy is a company that designs and manufactures high-performance products for demanding applications in industries such as chemical processing and biotechnology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full penetration butt weld 6G test.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
  • Signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift objects for long periods.
  • Lift and carry material weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Weld using stainless steel and other alloys.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs.
  • Connect and turn regulator valves to adjust gas flow and pressure.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods.
  • Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job numbers and piece marks.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent; some college preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5+ years of proven experience as a TIG Welder.
  • Must be able to pass a 6G stainless steel pipe weld test.
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and proper operating procedures.
  • Experience using electrical or manual tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
