Overview

AIT is the world's largest provider of automation, factory integration, and tooling solutions dedicated to the global aerospace, defense, and space launch vehicle industries. The Tool and Laser Install Technician is responsible for operating laser tracker equipment and completing day-to-day tool building projects that meet quality standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and verify accuracy of assembled articles for conformance to standards.
• Determine methods and sequences of fabrication and assembly, performing final setup and assembly of components.
• Demonstrate understanding of principles and use of optical equipment and computer-aided measuring equipment.
• Fabricate and prove optical and mechanical accessories to adapt and modify optical instruments.
• Construct all types of major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, and related tooling.
• Conduct in-process inspection and final inspection of parts and sub-assemblies during manufacturing.
• Measure and mark reference lines and points on parts according to specifications.
• Prepare breakdown of jigs and fixtures into components.
• Perform assignments involving accurate relationships and close tolerances.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associates degree or technical accreditation.
• Minimum of three years of experience working with laser trackers and model-based metrology.
• Minimum of seven years of experience with laser trackers and model-based metrology in lieu of education.
• Recent experience operating Faro, API, Leica laser trackers using Verisurf or Spatial Analyser software.
• In-depth familiarity with GD&T to interpret blueprints.
• Ability to establish and apply reference systems for tasks.
• Experience collecting geometric data via laser tracker through model-based software.
• Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
• Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, and word-processing programs.
