Overview

The Mill Operator will operate manual industrial equipment to manufacture and complete precision machined components. Essential skills include a working knowledge of tool room machinery, above average math abilities, and a thorough understanding of machining principles.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment such as Bridgeport milling machines, engine lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and drill jigs.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools for precision machining operations.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations.
  • Utilize tools like micrometers, calipers, and indicators to check and inspect machined components.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
  • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work.
  • Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to confirm placement of cuts.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of conventional machining experience.
  • Certification from an accredited technical college is a plus.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
