Overview

The Small Parts Fitter Welder role at Valmont involves interpreting drawings and fabricating small parts while ensuring quality standards are met. Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and infrastructure to improve lives globally.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and make arms/small parts according to specifications.
  • Use shop mathematics to perform calculations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and measuring instruments.
  • Fit parts to specifications and tolerances.
  • Operate MIG and/or Flux Core welding equipment.
  • Perform tack welding using GMAW and/or FCAW processes.
  • Read work orders and production schedules.
  • Maintain a daily production log.
  • Use safety equipment and follow procedures.
  • Understand the use of equipment in the arms area.
  • Assemble parts using various tools and equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds and materials.
  • Measure weld size with a weld gauge.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
  • Use cranes to lift and position heavy components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Ability to use common manufacturing math.
  • 1 year experience reading and using blueprints.
  • 1 year previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Graduated from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding.
  • Must pass GMAW and FCAW weld test and maintain certification.

  • Days 1st Shift Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday 7AM - 3PM.
  • Work hours may be required outside the standard shift schedule.
