Overview

The Mechanical Piping Designer will work in a team to develop accurate and coordinated Mechanical Piping system models that comply with McKenney’s drafting standards. The role involves creating shop drawings and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient project completion.

Responsibilities

• Utilize McKenney’s CAD standards to create mechanical piping models.
• Accurately model Mechanical Piping systems in compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Coordinate Mechanical Piping systems with ductwork, mechanical equipment, and other trades.
• Ensure safe and adequate access for installation in accordance with code clearances.
• Provide annotated, dimensioned shop drawings and spool assemblies.
• Review and distribute fabrication information to project managers and field leaders.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, project engineers, and field foremen.
• Manage requests for information and shop drawing progress using company tools.
• Identify and communicate areas of deficiency with proposed solutions.
• Create As-Built condition drawings for projects.
• Produce all documents on time and within budget.
• Pursue self-development of skills related to the job position.
• Maintain enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years working in the Mechanical Piping trade or design experience using AutoCAD 2014 or higher.
• Experience with Mechanical Piping drafting using Autodesk Fabrication CADmep software preferred.
• Ability to layout and size mechanical piping.
• 2-year associate degree in drafting or a similar area preferred.
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional layouts from two-dimensional drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction documents.
• Basic PC experience in Windows environments.
