Overview

Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer – Nuclear to join their team in the United States. The company is committed to positive change in the energy sector, focusing on innovative and sustainable solutions across various industries, including nuclear energy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and piping engineering functions within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Assist project teams in understanding project requirements related to scope, execution strategy, cost, and schedule.
  • Ensure delivery of project requirements while following the Nuclear Quality Management System (NQMS).
  • Support site field visits to obtain information and data for projects.
  • Prepare, support, and review equipment identification and selection activities.
  • Prepare, support, and review piping system design activities.
  • Support the population of information into the data-centric project environment.
  • Interface with vendors throughout the design and procurement process.
  • Support direct interfaces with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews.
  • Assist in the resolution of engineering issues during the project lifecycle.
  • Promote and maintain ethical and professional practices in engineering work.
  • Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety culture.
  • Support business development efforts and strategic initiatives for the nuclear industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Approximately 7–10 years of engineering experience.
  • Strong deliverable focus with effective work planning skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand inter-discipline dependencies related to mechanical and piping engineering.
  • Exposure to procurement, contracting, and commissioning methodologies.
  • Experience working in pressurized water reactor (PWR) and boiling water reactor (BWR) plants.
  • Experience with advanced Generation IV reactors is desirable.
  • Experience within a nuclear quality management system (ASME NQA-1).
  • Sound knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the nuclear industry.
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status is preferred.
  • Site experience in a technical role is preferred.
  • Eligibility to work on export-controlled projects subject to 10 CFR 810.
  • Ability to travel for short-term business trips domestically and internationally.
