Overview

The Mechanical Engineer III position involves performing complete designs for mechanical engineering assignments, utilizing theoretical knowledge and practical design methods under general supervision. The role emphasizes collaboration, technical guidance, and adherence to design standards to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Utilize department design and drafting standards.
• Familiarize with project scope, specifications, and design criteria.
• Provide on-site assistance during startup.
• Conduct engineering activities such as stress analysis and material procurement specifications.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies for efficient engineering solutions.
• Produce preliminary designs and material take-offs for project estimates.
• Create detailed design calculations and sketches for materials of construction.
• Assist the drafting group in resolving layout and detailing problems.
• Consult with design leaders from other disciplines for project completion.
• Review vendor and discipline drawings for mechanical input.
• Design with efficient use of construction materials and client expectations.
• Check calculations made by other engineers for accuracy and compliance.
• Advise senior engineering on identified design or scope changes.
• Assist in developing scopes, drawings, and specifications for procurement.
• Develop construction specifications.
• Review fabrication drawings for conformance to engineering specifications.
• Perform fieldwork to gather data and provide construction support.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel.
• Apply advanced engineering techniques to complex designs.
• Develop small work sharing packages for interoffice execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of design standards and codes.
• Knowledge and application of piping materials and specifications.
• Experience with sizing and stress analysis of piping systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills and ability to work in virtual teams.
