Overview

McWane Inc. is seeking an experienced Welder Fitter for their newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial, located in Calera, Alabama. The role involves analyzing engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations while promoting a safe work environment and adhering to the company's core principles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of team members.
  • Assist supervisors in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Wear appropriate PPE including fall protection and respiratory protection.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the assigned work area.
  • Develop templates and work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components according to specifications.
  • Tack-weld or weld components using various welding equipment.
  • Cut workpieces using plasma, gas arc, and powered saws.
  • Observe tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a welder or welder/fitter.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and testing.
  • Ability to operate forklift or overhead crane.
  • Knowledge of industrial tools and their maintenance.

  • 1st Shift M-F 6:30 am - 3:00 pm or 2nd Shift (4-10 hrs) 2:30 pm - 12:30 am.
  • Hourly Rate: $22.00-$25.00
