Overview

Weatherford has a great opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the Completion Team at Spencer Road, Houston TX. The Project Engineer will be responsible for designing new products and improving existing ones, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner while evaluating products for cost efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Exposure to Intelligent Completion products and operations.
  • Perform fundamental engineering tasks within the established Product Development Process.
  • Address strength of material problems and electromechanical products.
  • Conduct stress analysis, torque, tension, burst, collapse, and compression evaluations.
  • Engage in complex statics and dynamics and material selection.
  • Estimate costs and conduct tolerance studies.
  • Modify existing products to meet customer requirements.
  • Create new engineering layouts for fit, form, and function checking.
  • Prepare calculations and design packages for design reviews.
  • Prepare, check, and direct the preparation of detailed drawings and layouts.
  • Coordinate the manufacture of prototypes.
  • Develop experimental test programs and build test tools and fixtures.
  • Analyze test data to determine if products meet technical specifications.
  • Participate in the analysis of failures and prevent defects in products.
  • Demonstrate understanding of fundamental design tools.
  • Perform advanced engineering tasks such as fluid dynamics and vibrations.
  • Create performance envelopes that show tool limits to customers.
  • Coordinate activities associated with technical developments, scheduling, budgeting, and resolving design and test problems.
  • Proactively develop and communicate design guidelines for the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience as a professional engineer.
  • 8+ years of mechanical design experience in downhole Completion oilfield tools.
  • Exposure to Intelligent Completions products (ICVs, Hydraulic, Electrical, Hydro-Mechanical).
  • Project Management experience is essential.
  • Experience with stress analysis of thick and thin-walled pressure vessels.
  • Experience with non-elastomeric sealing technologies.
