Overview

ConocoPhillips is one of the world’s largest independent exploration and production companies, focused on safely finding and delivering energy globally. The Able Bodied Seaman (AB) position involves working under the Chief Mate and Master, performing various deck duties and ensuring safety and compliance during marine operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with docking and undocking procedures.
  • Stand watch as lookout or on the bridge steering the vessel.
  • Perform deck maintenance duties under supervision.
  • Work aloft in certain situations.
  • Load ballast and gauge tanks during docking.
  • Tend mooring lines to keep the ship against the berth.
  • Assist in crane operations for cargo hoses.
  • Operate manual and mechanical valves as necessary.
  • Be alert for spills during operations.
  • Secure mooring lines and assist in handling tug lines during undocking.
  • Perform maintenance on deck equipment and machinery.
  • Assist with tank washing and repair as directed.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Endorsements on MMC: Able Seafarer - Deck, RFPNW, PSC, Basic Training, Able Seaman, Lifeboatman.
  • Willing to be away from home for periods over two months.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 200 pounds.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds from floor to shoulder.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to overhead.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs ranging from 5 to 200 feet.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.

  • This is a Safety Sensitive position.
  • Relocation is not available for this position.
  • Tour lengths range from 65-85 days with an average of 75 days onboard and 60 days of paid leave.
